This month, we are proud to recognize Reagan Wrench as our Volunteer Spotlight. Reagan has been a familiar face at the Plaza Theatre for decades, serving in countless roles both onstage and behind the scenes. From acting and directing to building sets, designing costumes, running technical elements, and helping audiences feel welcome, Reagan has contributed to nearly every corner of the Plaza experience. His creativity, leadership, and dedication have helped shape the theatre into the special place it is today. We asked Reagan to share a little about his volunteer journey and what keeps him coming back to the Plaza.

How long have you been volunteering at the theatre and what motivated you?

I saw a production of “The Music Man” at the Plaza and I thought to myself “Those guys look like they are having lots of fun” so I auditioned for an upcoming show. I was right. Plaza people have the most fun.

What roles or tasks do you typically undertake as a volunteer?

Pretty much everything. Acted, directed, made and designed posters and t-shirts, stage managed, designed and built sets, painted scenery, made costumes, ran sound, ran lights, sold popcorn, ushered, taken tickets and emptied the trash.

Mostly I act (up) and direct.

What are your most memorable experiences?

So many. I have a lot of stage moments where I get to see something, a reaction for example, that the audience doesn’t. I am very luck, because I not only get to see it; I get to feel it too, and that’s pretty great.

How has volunteering impacted your life?

I have met and gotten to know SO many people who are so awesome and have such incredible gifts to share. And because of my association with the Plaza, I have a great circle of dear friends.

Advice to someone interested in volunteering:

Do it! You can eat all the popcorn you want!
