Auditions & Registration to be held for Litefooters Summer Youth Workshop & Production of
ANNIE JR.
presented by Roberson Air Conditioning
Our young performers at the Plaza are nicknamed the Litefooters because our adults are called the Footeliters in honor of Pulitzer- and Academy Award-winning playwright Horton Foote, who was born in Wharton. Every summer we teach basic stagecraft and theatre discipline to youngsters age 6 through 16 at the Litefooter Summer Youth Workshop. The workshop culminates in a major production on the Plaza’s main stage during the last weekend in June.
Auditions and registration for Annie JR. will be held on Sunday, May 10th and Tuesday, May 12th at 6:00pm at the Plaza Theatre in Wharton. Participants only need to attend one of the audition sessions and must be ages 6 – 16 at the audition date. A $50.00 registration fee covers t-shirt, snacks, and supplies. Scholarships are available upon special request.
Participants should be prepared with a song and to read from the script. It is suggested to wear comfortable clothing and shoes for a possible dance audition.
About the Show: Based on the popular comic strip and adapted from the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, with a beloved book and score by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, Annie JR. features everyone’s favorite little redhead in her very first adventure.
With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone’s hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Annie eventually foils Miss Hannigan’s evil machinations, finding a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
Performance dates for Annie JR. are June 23 – 26, 2022, General Admission is $15. For more information about the Litefooters Summer Youth Workshop & Production including rehearsal schedule, character descriptions, and tickets, please visit whartonplazatheatre.org.
