PLAZA THEATRE ANNOUNCES 3 SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS FOR 2025
The Plaza Theatre is proud to announce Aidan Meek, Maci Bolletino, and Sammuel Robinson as the recipients of the 2025 Plaza Theatre Scholarship in memory of Mrs. Jeanene D. Merka. These $500 scholarships are awarded annually to graduating or continuing students pursuing education in theatre and the performing arts. The program reflects the Plaza Theatre’s enduring mission to foster local talent and support young artists as they take their next steps in academic and artistic excellence.
Aidan Meek, a dedicated student at Wharton County Junior College, has been involved in the Plaza Theatre’s summer theatre program since junior high and continues to shine as both a performer and creative contributor. Aidan has earned multiple accolades throughout his academic journey, including recognition in UIL Speech and Debate, One-Act Play, and as a four-time state-qualifying flute soloist. At WCJC, he has made his mark in both the drama and concert band departments, recently receiving Respondents’ Choice and Professor’s Choice awards at the 2025 Texas Community College Speech and Theatre Association Festival. Aidan’s growing passion for lighting design and directing fuels his desire to teach and make a lasting impact in the arts. His energy, tenacity, and curiosity make him a valued member of the theatre community and a proud representative of the Plaza Theatre.
Maci Bolletino, a graduating senior at El Campo High School, has made a lasting impression through her four years of involvement in both school and community theatre. She has performed in fall productions and One Act Play since 2020, competed at the state level in Theatrical Design, and contributed to Wharton Plaza Productions since 2022. As a dedicated member of STARS, Maci served as Reporter, Historian, and currently holds the position of Theatre President. Her talents span acting, singing, and technical artistry, and she’s equally committed to inspiring others through mentorship and leadership. Maci plans to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in theatre at Texas State University, with aspirations for a Master’s degree to follow. Her passion, work ethic, and creative versatility make her a standout in the arts community.
Sammuel Robinson, a graduating senior at El Campo High School, has quickly become a standout performer and leader in the school’s theatre department. Since transferring to El Campo, Sam has taken on lead roles in school and community theatre productions, earning individual acting awards and respect for his professionalism and work ethic. As Vice President of the drama club, he has helped guide new members and support fellow performers. His contributions also extend beyond the stage—reading to children at the El Campo Branch Library and actively participating in speech and performance events. Sam plans to pursue a college education in musical theatre, with dreams of inspiring others through the power of storytelling.
