WHARTON, TX — The Plaza Theatre is thrilled to announce a generous donation from The First State Bank that made it possible to purchase a brand-new commercial drink cooler for the theatre’s concession stand.
After ongoing issues with our previous cooler—which was not only unreliable but also too small to meet the demands of our growing audiences—we set out to find a replacement that was double in size and more energy-efficient. Thanks to the support of The First State Bank, that goal became a reality just in time for our sold-out performances of Finding Nemo Jr.

“The timing couldn’t have been better,” said Dr. Henri-Ann Nortman, President of The Plaza Theatre. “With hundreds of patrons attending each performance of Finding Nemo Jr., having a larger, reliable cooler made all the difference. We’re so grateful to The First State Bank for supporting our theatre and investing in the arts here in Wharton County.”
The upgraded cooler provided significantly more space and allowed volunteers to serve cold beverages quickly and efficiently to excited audience members throughout the weekend.
Debra Evans, Vice-President and Branch Manager of The First State Bank’s Wharton branch, shared, “The Plaza Theatre plays such an important role in our community—bringing people together and showcasing incredible local talent. We’re proud to contribute in a way that helps make the theatre experience even better for everyone.”
